Westport Hospitality partners with United Way to support Mental Health Awareness
“Westport Hospitality recognizes the on-going need to have open and honest conversations around mental health for both our individual and collective well-being.”
The hospitality industry was hit hard by the pandemic over the past few years. Many hotels are still recovering and unable to focus on community engagement. Westport Hospitality’s partnership with United Way of Northwest Vermont this year underscores their passion for making a positive impact in our community.
At the end of January, Westport Hospitality ran a United Way workplace campaign to raise resources and drive community engagement around local issues like promoting mental health. And earlier in the month, on January 9th, United Way’s Mental Health Initiative participated on a panel discussion at Hotel Vermont’s Mental Health Check-In Night. The hotel provided overnight stays to nominated Vermonters so they could participate in mental health related training sessions, lived-experience storytelling, and networking.
“Westport Hospitality is committed to helping our community and the challenges we face daily,” said Michell Langlais, Westport Hospitality’s vice president of sales. “One particular challenge we are passionate about supporting is Mental Health Awareness. Through our partnership with United Way of Northwest Vermont, and specifically their Mental Health Initiative, we hope to de-stigmatize conversations around mental health and equip the community with tools and resources to support friends, family, coworkers, the wider Vermont community, and themselves.”
United Way of Northwest Vermont’s partnership with Westport Hospitality is just one example of how we work alongside employers and businesses to help them make a community impact on the issues they care about and be part of creating long-term solutions to our community’s most complex problems.
“United Way’s partnerships and our 100 percent local focus allow us to serve as a community engagement broker for community-minded businesses. We help employers and their employees engage in issues they truly care about while also raising dollars to support local programs and efforts that directly impact our families, friends and neighbors,” said UWNWVT CEO Jesse Bridges.
For every dollar donated through a workplace campaign, United Way invests $3 back into the community through the power of collaboration and leveraging volunteers and other fundraising sources.
