It’s 211 Day

February 11 (2/11) is National 211 Day, an annual observance celebrating the go-to, three-digit (2-1-1) resource that helps millions of people across North America connect to help. In Vermont, Vermont 211 (VT 211) provides free, statewide access to community resources through personalized assistance by phone (dial 211), text, and an online searchable database.
VT 211’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of all people in Vermont through a statewide information and referral system that streamlines access to community resources. VT 211 is a nationally accredited information and referral service and operates as a centralized community resource information center in accordance with national standards.
VT 211 serves as the “front door” to Vermont’s health and human services system, providing confidential, nonjudgmental support and accurate, up-to-date information on services available statewide. VT 211 ensures barrier-free access for individuals with special needs, offers interpretation services for callers who speak languages other than English, and is an integral partner in Vermont’s disaster response and recovery efforts.
“211 is an unmatched, critical service that connects Vermonters to help every day,” said Alison Lamagna, Executive Director of United Ways of Vermont. “As needs increase and systems remain under strain, it is essential that Vermonters know they can call 211 for trusted information and referrals. On 211 Day, we celebrate this lifeline that supports thousands across the state.”
VT 211’s database includes 1,160 agencies, 3,270 programs, and more than 11,900 services. In 2025, VT 211 responded to 61,654 contacts and provided 22,015 referrals, with the most common needs related to housing, tax preparation, utilities support, public assistance, and individual and family supports. VT 211 encourages Vermonters to call 211, text their zip code to 898211, or visit www.vermont211.org if they or someone they know needs help.
