United Way of Northwest Vermont Hires Hannah Burnett as Chief Development Officer
United Way of Northwest Vermont is pleased to announce the hiring of Hannah Burnett as Chief Development Officer.
Burnett comes to United Way from Let’s Grow Kids, where she served as director of fundraising and engagement and played an instrumental role in securing the passage and stewarding implementation of Vermont’s landmark child care law, Act 76. Burnett is joining United Way as Let’s Grow Kids officially winds down its 10-year campaign to transform Vermont’s child care system in 2025. Her first day will be September 2, 2025.
As United Way’s Chief Development Officer, Burnett will lead fundraising and business development, supporting United Way’s ability to improve lives and create lasting change in Northwest Vermont. In addition to a passion for health equity, social justice, and community building, Burnett brings with her extensive fundraising and communications experience with social entrepreneurship ventures, non-profits, and academic institutions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hannah as United Way’s new Chief Development Officer. Hannah’s experience bringing Vermonters together to create lasting change is truly exceptional and her passion for creating a stronger, healthier, and more connected community aligns perfectly with United Way’s mission,” said United Way CEO Jesse Bridges.
Last year, United Way of Northwest Vermont and our community-serving partners connected more than 160,000 Vermonters to opportunities and resources to help them reach their full potential and invested $2.3 million into our community.
“I am energized by United Way’s work bringing local people together to build a future where everyone thrives. My time with Let’s Grow Kids reinforced a basic core value – through persistence and community, we can create real, lasting change. I am excited to continue partnering with Vermonters in my new role with United Way as we work together to improve the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors.”
Burnett studied global health and medical anthropology at Middlebury College and spent a few years working in health systems strengthening across Africa before receiving her MBA with a focus in marketing and social entrepreneurship from Northeastern University. She moved back home to Vermont in 2015. Burnett currently serves as the President of the Middlebury College Alumni Association Board. She lives with her husband and two young children in Winooski.
