Operation Happiness supports Franklin and Grand Isle families during the holiday season

Donations of cash, food and toys make the holidays brighter for our neighbors in Northwest Vermont

For individuals and families in need, the holidays can be particularly difficult. While for others, the holidays are filled with merriment, many in our community are faced with no food for a holiday meal, no coats or mittens for the cold weather, and no presents to bring joy to their children’s faces.  Through “Operation Happiness,” United Way of Northwest Vermont changes that for more than 1,000 local families by providing a basket of food appropriately sized for each household (including either a meat voucher, a ham, or a turkey), hats and mittens, and the opportunity to choose toys for their children up to age 16.

Many individuals, businesses, schools and local groups come together to make this enormous task possible and to make it easy for people in our community to contribute. Below are instructions for how you can get involved to make the holidays brighter for our neighbors in Northwest Vermont:

Donate cash

To make a monetary donation, please make a check payable to United Way of Northwest Vermont. Write “Operation Happiness” in the memo and mail it to United Way of Northwest Vermont, 412 Farrell Street, Suite 200, South Burlington, VT 05403.

Volunteer

If you would like to volunteer to help purchase, sort and assemble and/or distribute items, please call Operation Happiness at (802) 861-7812 and leave a message with your contact information.

Donate food, winter clothing items and/or toys

Various locations are accepting donations of food, toys, winter clothing and cold weather accessories, such as mittens and hats. Look for the red barrels located throughout Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, or call 802 861 7812 for information on where to drop off donations. Click Here for the wish list.
