Redesigned, Mobile-Friendly Volunteer Search Tool Is Launched June 1

United Way of Northwest Vermont Launches
New Online Volunteer Connection Service

June 1, 2016 (South Burlington, Vermont) – United Way of Northwest Vermont announces the launch of a redesigned, mobile-friendly Volunteer Connection website. Community members can now search for volunteer needs at hundreds of nonprofit organizations in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties.

Volunteerism is an important strategy United Way uses to mobilize community members to get involved and have an impact on critical needs in Education, Income and Health. The new site gives volunteers an easy way to find opportunities to volunteer once a week, once a month or once in a while. Users may search volunteer needs by age, location, or interests and search for causes that are meaningful to them. Co-workers, families, or friends may find group projects and respond as a team to a volunteer need. Individuals can now choose to follow an agency or save a search profile and receive notifications when new volunteer opportunities match their interests. Volunteers can track their volunteer hours and use built-in social media tools to share information about nonprofits and volunteer needs via Facebook or Twitter.

For nonprofit organizations, United Way of Northwest Vermont offers more ways to connect with potential volunteers. Nonprofit agencies can enhance descriptions with photos and video, track volunteers hours and participation and communicate directly with volunteers who are interested in their mission.

The new Volunteer Connection service is available at For more information, contact Volunteer Connection at 860-1677 or email
