By helping our friends and neighbors achieve financial stability,
we can improve the quality of life in our community
We work to unite the community to improve income through strategic initiatives, funding local programs and by mobilizing volunteers. We believe that the biggest impact can be made by focusing on initiatives that meet basic needs, promote affordable housing and encourage stable employment.
We fund community programs that shelter and feed people during times of need, offer affordable housing options and teach job and life skills needed for stable employment. United Way of Northwest Vermont leverages these investments by recruiting and mobilizing volunteers who teach financial literacy, assist in meeting basic needs and provide volunteer tax assistance. We also provided access to free online filing assistance software to qualified Vermonters.
United Way calls on the community to work together to tackle complex challenges that prevent people from achieving financial stability. We believe that by working together, we can find effective solutions to overcoming these barriers. Learn more by checking out one of our greatest success stories; the Working Bridges collaborative is an innovative employer-based project that helps lower wage workers stay and succeed at work.
Believe we can end chronic homelessness in our region. United Way of Northwest Vermont invests in a number of strategic initiatives and programs throughout Franklin, Grand Isle and Chittenden Counties that address homelessness. We engage and collaborate with partners to provide emergency shelter, support housing retention and encourage the creation of new housing for people who are homeless or at-risk of losing their homes. Beacon Apartments is a community collaboration we support that's changing lives and providing hope for the future.
Perhaps the most powerful way to leverage your gift of time, influence or money is to tell others that you support United Way and inspire them to give too. If we all give a little, together we have a lot.
